African Cannabis Research and Indigenous Plant Observatory
From Galamsey to Green Gold
ACRiPOD is a dedicated research unit within NVM's research and training network, focused on indigenous plant systems, cannabis research, agroecology, and the transformation of illicit and underutilised plant economies into sovereign, regulated green industries.
ACRiPOD's flagship research framework - From Galamsey to Green Gold - articulates the pathway from destructive extraction economies to regenerative, plant-based sovereign industries. The unit conducts rigorous empirical and policy-oriented research on cannabis legalisation, ethnobotany, plant medicine, soil science, and green economy development across Africa.
ACRiPOD advocates for evidence-based policymaking in the cannabis and indigenous plant sectors, engaging governments, traditional leaders, farmers, and health practitioners. It publishes research, organises policy forums, and builds the intellectual scaffolding for Africa's emerging plant sovereignty economy.
